"I am the" by Abigail Stone

I am a handwritten letter in the mail.

Intricate, and sometimes hard to read

Getting lost from time to time

but always in a new place

with a different destination already planned

Never wanting to stop until it’s necessary

Get picked up and put back down by many

But knowing one day, I’ll be picked up for good

And given time to be read and understood

By the person who has been waiting
