What It Means To Be From The NEK

Being from the NEK means 4 seasons. Summer, fall, winter, & mud boots.

Where mud season is happily accepted.

We live by these seasons. Each month brings new adventures.

Hunting, skiing, fishing, hiking, farming, mudding & sugaring.

Being from the NEK means not having cell phone service anywhere you go.

Where you spend time with people you love & can’t get away from.

Going to the grocery store & knowing everyone you see, including your ex.

It means driving strictly on backroads & discovering new ones.

Being raised with respect & courtesy for others.

Thanking the firefighter or EMT for their work they do in your community.

The NEK is made up of hard working people & home cooked meals.

It’s where kids work to pay for what they want.

It means helping people out.

If someone goes off the road, you stop to see if they are okay.

It’s where you offer, before people ask.

It’s where people drive awd cars or trucks.

There are more cows than people.

Where family lives minutes away from you.

Where every road you travel, you meet cars you know.

& people wave to each other.

Where restaraunts know the usuals & their orders.

The NEK is where people pile into a truck, & fly through a field.

It’s where friends gather around a fire pit at night & stay up through all hours.

It’s where family comes first & they have each other’s backs.

The NEK is so much more than just a little section of towns in Northern Vermont.

It is proudly called home to myself, & many others.
