Why slam poems suck!
To start you may not know what a slam poem is. Well it's nothing to exciting or special, because in short it’s pretty much a regular old poem with a cool word tacked on the front of it. This cool word makes it seem like it could be exciting, it gives the idea energy, and watching videos of competitions may make you eye’s light up like lightbulbs. But don’t be fooled there is nothing exciting here.
When it comes to writing a “insert cool word here” poem you may struggle with what to write about. Because choosing something to slam should not be taken lightly, you must know what to slam, how to slam it, and why you're slamming it. But do not make the grave mistake of assuming you have nothing to slam about, because the results may be grim.
There’s a seemingly never ending black hole when writing a poem with a cool word on the front. This black hole makes you not want to write and may make you procrastinate to multiple levels. You may find yourself checking the time, texting away on your phone, or staring off into the vast and infinite universe. Unless you take a grammatical red bull expect to encounter this.
