Boys Soccer - Playoff Bound

With the regular season winding down, the team still remains undefeated and has plenty of life left to make a strong push to the playoffs. We are sitting in first place with 13 wins and zero losses but that doesn't mean a thing. Come playoff time anything can happen. There are Cinderella Stories that come out of the bottom every year. After being defeated in the quarterfinals last year, we are out for revenge and reclaim our destiny of taking the banner back to hang in Don Harter Gymnasium.

The season has gone well scoring fifty goals and only giving up five in nine games. With Riley and Brady connecting with the back of the net on an average of two goals a game and consistent scoring from other supporting casts in the midfield, our offense is strong and relentless. With steady play in the midfield controlling play before shooting gaps towards the goal. Our defense is solid but can always continue to grow and add new diversity to our play. With a supporting cast that is relentless in the attacking third and knows how to kick it in an extra gear there is no let up and will be no let up. We can not settle at this because the moment we stop improving is when our streak will end. Pushing ourselves every practice needs to be the standard and intersquad competition will help with this goal. The young talent combined with senior experience seems to be the right one-two punch so far. The key is to keep the mindsets the same as they were as in the beginning of the season when the expectations were to improve every day we took the pitch.

Now with all eyes on the Lake Region Soccer team and huge targets on our back for some team to hit, we need to keep our heads focused on our one and only goal, take home the banner. What every other person says should not matter because we control our own destiny. Now we focus on only the team we face next and prepare for one opponent at a time. This coming saturday we host Hazen in our homecoming game. This is our last game of the regular season and we take on our rival from just south of us. We hope to then lock ourselves into the number one seed for the playoffs. This game should attract a large crowd because of the strong fan base that Lake Region has built.
